The Campus Services EDIB Committee will soon have new leadership and a new name. Several co-chairs are concluding their service and will make way for others to help lead this important work. Over the past several years, Crista Martin (HUDS), David Havelick (OFS), Belynda Bady (HIO), and Lisa Valela (HUH) have been instrumental in developing the Committee and laying the foundation for a Campus Services EDIB Office. Their work has helped Campus Services become a more equitable workplace and an organization that respects everyone’s collective experiences and ideas.
Athene Sirivallop (Common Spaces) and Jackie Kerr (EH&S) are the new co-chairs of the committee. Jackie is excited and hopeful for the future noting that progress at Harvard can be a “slow and steady” game but that improvements can and do happen when the right people are connected and they care about the same issues. For Athene, over the next year, she hopes to be proactive in ensuring that all voices are represented in the work we do.
The EDIB Committee is also undergoing a name change. Going forward, the committee will be known as the EDIB Leadership Council to more accurately signal the group’s leadership in serving on behalf of the business units, providing guidance, and supporting the EDIB director in the development and implementation of strategic plans.
