The newly released 2023-2024 Harvard Annual Sustainability Report, developed by the Office for Sustainability, shares robust data and highlights that show how the University is accelerating action on sustainable development. Harvard is making progress toward its two major climate goals: 1. Fossil Fuel-Free by 2050, and 2. Fossil Fuel-Neutral by 2026, as well as other objectives outlined in the University-wide Sustainability Action Plan.
Steps are being taken every day through Campus Services units, both operationally and in strategic planning, to achieve the University’s sustainability priorities. This includes decreasing carbon emissions on campus, purchasing electricity from newly developed renewable electricity projects, operating an electric bus fleet, implementing leading sustainable building standards, regulatory reporting, fostering recycling and zero waste initiatives, promoting healthier, sustainable food options, and much more.
As you’ll see, action is being taken across Campus Services and the University to demonstrate what large organizations can do to accelerate solutions to create a more sustainable future. We hope you enjoy reading about Harvard’s collective accomplishments!
