We would like to congratulate a number of our employees for being selected as this year’s Harvard Heroes! The annual recognition program celebrates staff from across the University, and at every level, for their outstanding work, leadership, and excellence in support of Harvard’s mission. While there are countless and very worthy candidates all across Campus Services, six of our employees have been selected for this year’s honor. Make sure to save the date, Thursday June 12th, for the Harvard Heroes ceremony which will be held in Memorial Hall, Sanders Theater and hosted by President Alan Garber. A reception will follow in Annenberg Hall. The event is free and open to all members of the university community.
Here are the winners and why they were selected!

Angela Reid
Environmental Health & Safety – Associate Director of Biosafety
‘Angela is an exceptional people manager. From the beginning of the hiring process through onboarding, she is welcoming, inclusive and provides very detailed materials to her new hires to make the onboarding process less overwhelming. In addition, Angela has been a crucial member of an EHS management team working group to develop best practices for managers and establish competencies for staff. Angela is also a key member of the EHS mentoring program and is currently mentoring a junior member of our department who shared multiple times how vital Angela’s support has been to her professional development. Angela is a champion for employee well-being.’

Aaron Mayerson
Facilities Maintenance Operations – Generator Mechanic, Foreman
‘Aaron is exactly what we need in his current role as the Emergency Generator Foreman who also oversees and maintains the elevator state elevator testing. Through his actions, loyalty, and reliability, Aaron leads his team members by example with his customer service excellence, knowledge, and overall care factor to the university. He quietly and seamlessly works behind-the-scenes in making sure all of the university’s emergency generators are ready for operation in the event of power interruptions on campus. His impressive leadership skills are often noticed by other schools and departments. Aaron supports our mission with class, confidence, and care.’
Matt Civittolo
Facilities Maintenance Operations – Associate Director of Maintenance Services
‘We all take for granted the integrity and safety of the plumbing systems in our buildings and the wholesome water we drink. We all owe a great debt of gratitude to Matt Civittolo. Wise building managers across Harvard have Matt’s contact info on speed dial to help deal with plumbing emergencies or to plan often convoluted renovations or repairs. Matt has an uncanny ability to sort through simultaneous and often chaotic requests that each arrive with a high-priority demand. Matt addresses each in an exemplary manner by directly investigating the issues and choreographing work by skilled colleagues. He accomplishes all this while settling frayed nerves with his smile and calm demeanor.’

Kyle Ronayne
Harvard University Dining Services – Director of Catering & Events
‘Kyle is an exceptional manager who has significantly elevated standards at Crimson Catering. In addition, he has taken on the substantial portfolio of Campus Event Services, essentially reinventing this part of the business. He’s highly respected, known for his efficiency, professionalism, and inclusive approach in every task he undertakes. Harvard recently determined that it needed a new, centralized approach to supporting the rental and installation of items like tents, tables, chairs, and flooring during events across campus. The challenge landed in Kyle’s lap and he took it on with fervent organization, collaboration, and hospitality. As we near Commencement 2025, Kyle’s new comprehensive system meets our collective needs and also puts Harvard in the best light. It was a herculean task but because of Kyle’s efforts we are One Harvard.’
